Day 1: Saigon - Vinh Long.
Exit the bustling city of Saigon for a car trip to the Mekong Delta by road. Upon arrival at Cai Lay, we will take a short bike ride to Cai Be for approximately 1.5 hours to enjoy the scenic views. Stop for lunch on an island in the center of the Mekong before continuing to ride a bike to a local family house - a typical Vietnamese house with spacious rooms and outdoor kitchen and you will be sure that you have a fabulous and authentic experience of the rural life of the Mekong Delta. The rest of this afternoon is free to go cycling through the roads around family house. Dinner will be prepared by the homestay. Overnight at Homestay in Vinh Long's island.
Day 2: Vinh Long - Tra Vinh.
This morning, transfer by road to Vinh Long and board a boat to one of the Mekong Islands and a bike ride along the narrow country roads, easy trails through the small orchards, colorful life along the river , pedaling through innumerable wooden bridges and pausing to chat with the welcome villagers. We crossed a narrow canal in a local sampan and arrived at the main ferry for an excursion with locals along the expansive Co Chien River. The final leg of the bike trip will be in the charming town of Khmer de Tra Vinh. Upon early arrival this afternoon, there are many times to explore the trails. Today's tour is a great first impression of the Heart of the Mekong Delta.
Day 3: Tra Vinh - Can Tho.
Today is a unique day of cycling and sightseeing. Much of the area is populated by Khmer people. The regional architecture is interesting and there are many Khmer temples to stop and admire along the way.
Enjoy the bike trip along the peaceful, narrow and very beautiful road to Can Tho. Pedal to Ba Om Pond with its magnificent lotus flowers. On the way, visit the local Buddha Temple and it is also a school and you will have the opportunity to learn more about the lives of the students. Arrival in Can Tho at the end of the afternoon, the largest city in the Mekong which is located at the confluence of the Can Tho and Hau Giang rivers.
Day 4: Can Tho - Saigon.
After enjoying breakfast, meander through the bustle of the morning market and cycle along the banks of a river. Next, you will go down a narrow paved road to the Phong Dien floating market and visit the artisan industries, the wood merchants, the coconut crushers and the small docks that load and unload rice. The next leg of the trip is a narrow road to explore the hidden backwater of the Delta and the cities of O Mon and Binh Thuy. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant before returning to Can Tho, check - out at the hotel and return to the city of Saigon.
